Soldeu and El Tarter are some of Grandvalira's most family-friendly resorts. The ski schools, nurseries and snow gardens all sit at the top of the gondolas in both villages, so once you've ridden up everything is in one place — no need to lug equipment back and forth between village and mountain.
Under-sixes ski free, English-speaking instructors are the norm, and the snow gardens are purpose-built for very young learners. Whether you're bringing toddlers or older children, the set-up here makes family skiing about as easy as it gets.

Nursery care for children aged 2-5 in Soldeu, El Tarter & Canillo.
An indoor play area with lots of toys, storytelling, fun and games, plus supervised outdoor snow play. The nursery is supervised by experienced staff — there is no ski tuition included, and meals are not provided.

A great introduction to snow sports for children aged 3-5
The snow garden is an enclosed, gently sloping area where young children get their first taste of skiing through play. Ages 3-4 cover snow adaptation activities; ages 4-5 move on to structured ski lessons. Sessions are led by specialised early-years instructors.

The Kids Program combines three hours of daily ski instruction with lunch, plus a mix of snow activities — snowshoeing tours, igloo building, animal track searching and various other activities in the snow. Private lessons are ideal for children who aren't quite ready for group lessons, or for siblings who want to learn together — an instructor can work with up to three or four children from the same family in a single session.

Everything you need to know about booking lift passes for children in Soldeu
Under-sixes ski free in Soldeu and El Tarter — just bring their passport or ID to the ticket office and they'll receive a complimentary pass for the duration of your stay.
Free lift passes for under-sixes can't be pre-booked online — they're issued at the resort ticket office on arrival when you show the child's passport or ID.
