    • Route from Barcelona to Soldeu

      On googlemaps there are three variations, all of similar distance and time.

      One goes through Spain & France into Andorra
      Two go through Spain & into Andorra

      Are there any drawbacks or advantages to either of the three routes googlemaps suggest?
    • Here is the one I would take....

      From either terminal when you come out of the airport follow the blue signs for A2 Lleida. After a few kilometres the motorway splits between the AP2 and the A2 - keep following A2 as you have to pay to use the other.

      Once on the A2 you'll go past a couple of signs for Andorra but just ignore them as you want to come off at exit 520 signed Ponts and Andorra. At the roundabout take the second exit onto the L311 towards Guissona, and then the L313 to Ponts - Andorra has recently been added to lots of the signs from here, however you want to head for Ponts. In the centre of Ponts turn right onto the C14 and head for La Seu d'Urgell.

      Once at La Seu you'll bear left to a roundabout and then you're only 8km from the Andorran border. From the border follow Andorra la Vella, and as you come into the city follow the signs for France. You will go through the city then Encamp, next Canillo and El Tarter before arriving in Soldeu.

      Interesting, thats the route I saw Steve recommend on another thread.

      It's the longest of the 3 @ 143 miles and 3 hrs 8 mins.

      Any particular reason why this is preferred over the shortest @ 124 miles and 2 hrs 34 mins

      B20 -> C16 -> E9 into France ->N320 -> N22 into Androrra -> CG-2 into En Camp
    • There are no tolls and it's the route most locals take as well as the transfer buses. It's a good road all the way and pretty well signed.

      Also, if you come in from the French side it's a windy mountain pass coming up to Pas de la Casa so can get affected by the snow (eg. it was closed over this weekend).

      No tolls, ah didn't think of that!

      Thanks for the info, will follow that route even if it is a little longer
